Padres to Welcome All Fans Back Home to Petco Park while Honoring San Diego’s Frontline Heroes
SAN DIEGO — Following the State of California’s update today on their full reopening plan for June 15th, the Padres are excited to announce that Petco Park will open to 100% capacity for the first time in over a year and a half beginning with the Thursday, June 17th game against the Cincinnati Reds at 5:40 p.m. PT. With help from our partners at Petco, the health and wellness company for pets, the Padres will celebrate “San Diego’s Opening Day” by hosting and honoring local frontline heroes who made this day possible, followed by special fan promotions for each of the games during the weekend series against the Reds (June 17–20).
The festivities begin on June 17th with pre-game DJ entertainment at the Sycuan Stage in Gallagher Square and a Padres “Full Opening Day” ceremony, including a presentation of the American flag with over 250 active-duty military members, a military flyover, on-field lineup introductions, and a post-game fireworks show. On Friday, June 18th, the Padres will kick off summer by hosting the first BeerFest of the season presented by Southwest Airlines, a pre-game happy hour in Gallagher Square featuring 12-ounce $5 beers from a variety of local and national partners including Ballast Point and Budweiser. Prior to the game on Saturday, June 19th, fans will be able to enjoy a live band at the Sycuan Stage in Gallagher Square, and all fans in attendance will receive a Padres Aloha Shirt presented by Southwest Airlines, which will be available in five different sizes (Youth Large, M, L, XL, 2XL; while supplies last). Sunday, June 20th will be fun for the entire family as the Padres celebrate Father’s Day and host the return of KidsFest before the game in Gallagher Square, as well as Youth Baseball and Softball Day featuring a Padres branded headband presented by JUNK Brands, and post-game catch on the field with Dad (pre-registration required). Budweiser will feature Father’s Day beer specials for Dad with koozies to commemorate the day. Military Appreciation Sunday also returns with discounted tickets for all veteran and active-duty members and their families (with verification through GOVX), as well as a pre-game flyover and jump by the U.S. Navy Leap Frog parachute team.
