#PadresOnDeck: №3 Prospect Urías Has Three Hits, HR in AAA-El Paso Win

Luis Urías, the Padres’ third-ranked prospect by the MLB Pipeline, was 3-for-5 Wednesday for Triple-A El Paso with a double and a home run.
Ranked the 36th-best prospect in all of the minor leagues as well as the №2 second baseman, Urías is off to a .381 start with the Chihuahuas. The native of Mexico is 8-for-21 with six walks. After the first week, Urías has a .536 on-base percentage and a .571 slugging percentage for a 1.107 OPS.
Two other top-30 prospects homered in the Padres system Wednesday.
— Third baseman Hudson Potts, 19, hit his second homer for Advanced Single-A Lake Elsinore. The Padres’ №17 prospect was 1-for-4 and is hitting .320.
— Tijuana native Tirso Ornelas, 18, hit a three-run homer for Single-A Fort Wayne. Ornelas, the Padres’ 15th-ranked prospect, is hitting .261. He also drew a walk Wednesday.

TRIPLE-A EL PASO (5–2): CHIHUAHUAS 4, Salt Lake 3 — Urías was one of three Chihuahuas to homer. SS Javy Guerra (.391) was 1-for-3 with a homer, a walk and two RBIs. LF Shane Peterson (.250) had a double and a game-winning solo homer in four at-bats. DH Allen Craig (.263) was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Starting RHP Walker Lockett (4.50 earned run average) allowed two runs on five hits and a walk with five strikeouts in six innings. LHP Kyle McGrath (3.00 ERA) allowed a run on two hits with a strikeout in two innings to earn the win. RHP Michael Mariot (15.00) allowed a hit in an inning to earn the save.
DOUBLE-A SAN ANTONIO (4–2): The Missions had Wednesday off.
ADVANCED SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (2–5): VISALIA 4, Storm 1 — Potts’ homer was the only Lake Elsinore run. CF Edward Olivares (.292) was 2-for-3 and was hit by a pitch. LF Nate Easley (.316) was 2-for-3 with a double. RHP Lake Bachar (1–1, 0.00 ERA) allowed four unearned runs on three hits and three walks with four strikeouts in five innings. RHP Trevor Megill (5.79) issued a walk with four strikeouts in three otherwise perfect innings.
SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (1–6): TIN CAPS 9, Lansing 4 — Ornelas hit one of three Fort Wayne homers. 1B Carlos Belen (.227) was 1-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs. LF Jack Suwinski (.235) was 1-for-3 with a homer, a walk and two runs scored. CF Jeisson Rosario (.269) was 1-for-4 with a walk, two RBIs and a run scored. 2B Esteury Ruiz (.174) was 1-for-3 with a walk, a RBI and a run scored. C Jalen Washington (.231) was 1-for-2 with two walks and a run scored. 3B Reinaldo Ilarraza (.118) was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Starting LHP Nick Margevicius (1.59 ERA) allowed two runs on eight hits and no walks with six strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings. LHP Fred Schlichtholz (1–1, 11.25) allowed a run on three hits and a walk in 2 1/3 innings to get the win. RHP Jordan Guerrero allowed a run on a walk with a strikeout in an inning.
