PADRES ON DECK: RHPs Lesko, Lizarraga, Lowe match strong starts by Snelling, Mazur; №1 prospect Salas has 2 hits; all 5 Padres’ affiliates win

Right-handed Padres’ pitching prospects Dylan Lesko (№3), Victor Lizarraga (№11) and Isaiah Lowe (№20) Saturday night followed strong outings turned in by Robby Snelling (№2) and Adam Mazur (№5) with excellent starts as all five Padres affiliates won.

Lesko allowed one run on three hits and four walks with seven strikeouts over five innings for High Single-A Fort Wayne to lower his earned run average to 7.20. Lesko was not the only prospect starring for the TinCaps. Catcher Ethan Salas (.190), the Padres’ №1 prospect, had two doubles in four at-bats with a RBI and two runs scored. Shortstop Jay Beshears (.400), the Padres’ №28 prospect, was 2-for-4 with a double, a RBI and a run. Right-handed reliever Bradgley Rodriguez (1–0, 3.86 ERA), the Padres’ №29 prospect, issued two walks with three strikeouts in two hitless, scoreless innings to earn the win.

Lizarraga (1–2, 5.48 ERA) gave up one unearned run on three hits and a walk with eight strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings to earn the win for Double-A San Antonio. Again, he wasn’t alone. Third baseman Marcos Castañon (.212), the Padres’ №14 prospect, was 2-for-3 with a sacrifice fly and a run scored. Catcher Brandon Valenzuela (.233), the Padres’ №12 prospect, had a double in four at-bats with a run.

And Lowe (1–1, 2.78 ERA) allowed a run on three hits and a walk with six strikeouts over six innings to earn the win for Single-A Lake Elsinore. Designate hitter Rosman Verdugo (.233), the Padres’ №24 prospect, was 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored.

First baseman Graham Pauley (.258), the Padres’ №6 prospect, was 2-for-3 with two walks, a RBI and a run scored for Triple-A El Paso. Right fielder Tirso Ornelas (.289), the Padres’ №26 prospect, was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Recently-signed left fielder David Peralta was 2-for-4 with a walk, a RBI and two runs in his Chihuahuas’ debut. And third baseman Eguy Rosario (.289) was 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and a hit-by-pitch for three RBIs and four runs.

AROUND THE FARM:

TRIPLE-A EL PASO (18–26) — Chihuahuas 11, LAS VEGAS 3: SS Matthew Batten (.316) was 2-for-4 with a double, a sacrifice fly and 3 runs scored behind Rosario, Pauley, Ornelas and Peralta. 2B Nate Mondou (.275) was 2-for-4 with a triple, a walk and a run. CF Oscar Mercado (.202) was 1-for-5 with 2 RBIs. Starting RH Gabe Mosser (1–2, 8.85 ERA) allowed 2 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks with 2 strikeouts in 5 innings to earn the win. RH Nick Hernandez (2.04) allowed a hit and a BB with 3 Ks in 2 scoreless IPs. RH Kevin Kopps (3.10) gave up an unearned run on a hit and a BB with a K in an IP. LH Austin Davis (4.02) struck out 2 in a perfect IP.

DOUBLE-A SAN ANTONIO (17–19) — MISSIONS 6, Corpus Christi 2: RF Robert Perez Jr. (.250) was 2-for-3 with a home run, 3 RBIs, a walk and 2 runs scored behind Castañon and Valenzuela. SS Ripken Reyes (.208) was 1-for-3 with a RBI. LF Cole Cummings (.258) had a double in 4 at-bats. 2B Michael De La Cruz (.161) was 1-for-3 with a walk. LF Clay Dungan (.167) was 1-for-4 with a run. DH Robbie Tenerowicz (.235) was 1-for-4 with a run. RH Raul Brito (3.68 ERA) followed Lizarraga and allowed a hit with a strikeout in 1 1/3 scoreless innings. RH Robert Milacki (3.97) gave up a run on 2 hits with 3 Ks in 2 IPs.

HIGH SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (16–22) — TIN CAPS 9, South Bend 2: 2B Nerwilian Cedeño (.181) backed Salas and Beshears with a grand slam home run in 3 at-bats with a walk. DH Albert Fabian (.266) was 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs. 3B Devin Ortiz (.265) was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. RF Kai Murphy (.246) was 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run. LF Colton Vincent (.444) was 1-for-3 with a run. RH Francis Pena (0.95 ERA) followed Lesko and Rodriguez and gave up a run on 2 hits and a walk with a strikeout in 2 innings to earn the save.

SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (18–18) — Storm 6, VISALIA 2: CF Wyatt Hoffman (.257) was 1-for-3 with 2 hit-by-pitches, a stolen base and 2 runs scored behind Verdugo. SS Chase Valentine (.200) was 1-for-3 and a run. 2B Jose Sanabria (.209) was 1-for-4. RF Braedon Karpathios (.258) was 1-for-5 with a RBI. 1B Ryan Wilson (.217) was 1-for-4 with a RBI. LF Jacob Campbell (.208) was 0-for-3 with 2 walks, 2 RBIs and a run. 3B Alain Camou (.160) was 1-for-4. C Oswaldo Linares (.132) was 0-for-2 with a sacrifice fly, a walk and a run. RH Will Varmette (10.43 ERA) followed Lowe and gave up a run on a hit with 2 strikeouts in an inning. LH Javier Chacon (3.27) issued a walk with a K in an otherwise perfect IP. RH Xavier Ruiz (2.87) gave up a hit with a K in a scoreless IP.

ARIZONA COMPLEX PADRES (7–5) — PADRES 2, Guardians 1: 1B Addison Kopack (.400) hit a solo home run in 3 at-bats. C Carlos Rodriguez (.286) and RF Kaden Hollow (.348) each had a double in 3 ABs. SS B.Y. Choi (.321) was 1-for-3). CF Kashon Conliffe (.186) was 1-for-2 with a walk. RH Kleiber Olmedo (2–0, 1.42 ERA) had a strikeout in a perfect inning to earn the win.
