The Padres on Deck: Players of the Week for Aug. 27-Sept. 1 by affiliate:

Outfielder Cal Mitchell (Triple-A El Paso) — Drafted in the second round of the 2017 draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates out of Rancho Bernardo High, the 25-year-old veteran of 71 Major League games (.222) signed a minor league contract with the Padres last off-season and has spent the entire 2024 season with the Chihuahuas. The 6-foot, 220-pound left-hander plays all three outfield positions. He went 8-for-19 (.421) in five games against Tacoma last week with two doubles, two home runs, two RBIs, two walks and four runs scored for a .476 on-base percentage and a .842 slugging percentage for a 1.318 OPS. In 105 games for the Chihuahuas, Mitchell has 23 doubles, two triples, 15 home runs, 49 RBIs, 11 stolen bases and 56 runs scored for a .266/.354/.470/.824 slash line.

Left-handed starting pitcher Austin Krob (Double-A San Antonio) — In his one start last week, Krob held Midland to one run on five hits and no walks with 10 strikeouts over six innings. It marked the fifth time in his last six starts that Krob allowed one or fewer earned runs in a start. Overall, the 6-foot-3, 205-pound, 24-year-old Krob — the Padres’ 12th-round pick in the 2022 draft out of Texas Christian University — is 4–10 for the Missions with a 4.46 earned run average, a 1.389 WHIP and a .272 opponents’ batting average in 24 games (23 starts) — giving up 64 runs (56 earned) on 117 hits and 40 walks with 109 strikeouts in 113 innings. That’s an average of 8.7 strikeouts per nine innings and a 2 ¾-to-1 strikeouts-to-walk ratio.

Left fielder Tyler Robertson (High Single-A Fort Wayne) — The 6-foot-4, 200-pound, 24-year-old was the Padres’ 14th-round pick in the 2022 draft out of the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. Robertson is hitting .477 (21-for-44) during an active 10-game hitting streak with two doubles, 10 RBIs, two walks, four stolen bases and three runs scored. He was 13-for-24 (.542) with eight RBIs in six games for the TinCaps last week at Lansing. Despite missing almost two months of the season on the injured list, Robertson has 11 doubles, five home runs, 37 RBIs, 14 stolen bases and 25 runs scored in 68 games with a .285/.354/.403/.756 slash line.

Center fielder Kai Roberts (Single-A Lake Elsinore) — The Padres’ seventh-round pick in July’s 2024 amateur draft, the 6-foot-5, 205-pound left-handed hitter was 10-for-24 last week in five starts as the Storm’s lead-off hitter with a double, a home run, two RBIs, four walks, seven stolen bases (without being caught once) and eight runs scored for a .417 batting average, a .500 on-base percentage and a .583 slugging percentage for a 1.083 OPS. After a post-draft tuneup in Arizona, the 23-year-old Roberts is 30-for-89 with the Storm with four doubles, two triples, a home run, 14 RBIs, 13 stolen bases, 11 walks and 24 runs scored in 21 games at Lake Elsinore for a .337/.408/.461/.869 slash line.
