PADRES ON DECK: Pitching Prospects Braden Nett, Austin Krob Have Excellent Starts; №1 Prospect Ethan Salas Delivers for High-A TinCaps

The Padres got excellent starts from top-30 pitching prospects Braden Nett and Austin Krob Friday night.

Right-hander Nett, the Padres’ №20 prospect, gave up a run on four hits, three walks and a hit batter with five strikeouts to improve to 5–2 with High Single-A Fort Wayne and lower his earned run average to 4.31.

Also at Fort Wayne, catcher Ethan Salas, the Padres’ №1 prospect, continued his late-season surge, going 2-for-5 with a double, a RBI and two runs scored to raise his batting average to .210. And third baseman Rosman Verdugo (.203), the Padres’ №17 prospect, was 1-for-5 with a run.

Left-hander Krob, the Padres’ №28 prospect, gave up one run on five hits and no walks with 10 strikeouts for Double-A San Antonio to lower his ERA with the Missions to 4.46.

Padres left-handed reliever Wandy Peralta made his first rehab assignment at San Antonio and had a strikeout in a perfect inning.

AROUND THE FARM:

TRIPLE-A EL PASO (50–79) — The Chihuahuas were leading 5–0 in the middle of the second when their game against Tacoma was suspended in the middle of the second. It will be completed Saturday as part of a doubleheader.

DOUBLE-A SAN ANTONIO (24–30, 55–67) — Midland 2, MISSIONS 1 (10 innings): SS Ripken Reyes (.221) had a solo home run in 3 at-bats with a walk. 3B Robbie Tenerowicz (.242) was 1-for-3. RH Jose Geraldo (1.80 ERA) followed Krob and Peralta and had 2 strikeouts in 2 perfect innings. LH Jason Blanchard (1–3, 3.45) gave up an unearned run with 3 Ks in an IP to suffer the loss.

HIGH SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (21–36; 49–75) — TicCaps 10, LANSING 6: Three TinCaps had 4-hit games behind Salas and Verdugo. 1B Devin Ortiz (.237) was 4-for-5 with a double, 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored. LF Tyler Robertson (.285) was 4-for-5 with 3 RBIs and a run. CF Kai Murphy (.241) was 4-for-5 with a RBI and a run. DH Ethan Long (.273) was 1-for-5 with 2 RBIs. SS Wyatt Hoffman (.269) was 1-for-4 with a walk and a run. RF Nick Vogt (.217) was 1-for-5 with a RBI and a run. 2B Nerwillian Cedeño (.203) was 1-for-5. LH Fernando Sanchez (4.30) followed Nett and gave up 5 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks with 4 strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings. RH Joan Gonzalez (4.47) allowed a hit with a K in 2/3rds of an IP.

SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (35–23, 67–55) — STORM 6, Modesto 3: DH Kai Roberts (.354) was 3-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored. RF Colton Vincent (.277) was 1-for-3 with a RBI and 2 runs. C Brendan Durfee (.298) had a double in 4 at-bats with 3 RBIs. 1B Lamar King Jr. (.257) was 1-for-3 with a walk, a RBI and a run. SS B.Y. Choi (.222) was 1-for-4 with a run. Starting RH Alejandro Lugo (3.08 ERA) gave up a run on 4 hits and 2 walks with 2 strikeouts in 4 innings. RH Kleiber Olmedo (1–0, 4.61) gave up 2 runs on 3 hits and 2 BBs with 4 Ks in 3 IPs. RH Luis German (6.58) had a K in a perfect IP. RH Xavier Ruiz (2.15) had 2 Ks in a perfect IP to earn his eighth save.
