Padres On Deck: 2B Esteury Ruiz, RHP Caleb Bousley Lead Lake Elsinore to Win

Second baseman Esteury Ruiz was 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBIs Sunday to lead Advanced Single-A Lake Elsinore to a 6–2 win over San Jose at The Diamond.
Ruiz, 20, who is ranked the Padres’ №27 prospect, raised his batting average to .250 with the Storm. He was acquired along with Padres starting pitcher Matt Strahm from Kansas City in the Jul4 24, 2017, trade that sent pitchers Trevor Cahill, Brandon Mauer and Ryan Buchter to the Royals.
Other top performances Sunday:
— C Luis Campusano, 20, the Padres’ №18 prospect, was 2-for-3 with a walk for Lake Elsinore to raise his batting average to .324.
RHP Caleb Boushley, 25, made a spot start for the Storm and allowed no runs on two hits and two walks with seven strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings to lower his earned run average to 2.08.

TRIPLE-A EL PASO (25–12): SACRAMENTO 6, Chihuahuas 1 — Starting LHP Dietrich Enns (4–2, 4.79 ERA) allowed 4 runs on 8 hits and a walk with 2 strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings to take the loss. RHP Carlos Torres (2.59) allowed a run on a hit and 2 walks in 1 1/3 innings. RHP Eric Yardley (3.86) allowed a run on a hit with 2 strikeouts in an inning. LF Michael Gettys (.272) was 2-for-4. C Chris Stewart (.235) was 2-for-3 with a RBI. 1B Jason Vosler (.250) had a double in 3 at-bats with a walk and a run scored.
DOUBLE-A AMARILLO (14–20): Sod Poodles 4, CORPUS CHRISTI 2 — LF Rodrigo Orozco (.278) was 2-for-5 with a double and a stolen base. 2B Ivan Castillo (.323) had a solo homer in 5 at-bats. CF Edward Olivares (.282) was 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and 2 runs scored. SS Owen Miller (.273) was 1-for-3 with a walk, a RBI and a run. 3B Hudson Potts (.227) was 1-for-4. Starting RHP Emmanuel Ramirez (2–4, 5.16 ERA) allowed a run on 3 hits and 2 walks with 8 strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings to get the win. RHP David Bednar (4.30) struck out the only hitter he faced. LHP Paco Rodriguez (1.64) allowed a run on a hit and 2 walks with 2 strikeouts in 2 innings. RHP Andres Munoz (2.08) struck out the side for his second save.
ADVANCED SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (17–20): STORM 6, San Jose 2 — RF Jack Suwinski (.237) backed Esteury Ruiz and Campusano with 2 doubles in 4 at-bats with a run scored. 3B Eguy Rosario (.238) was 1-for-4 with a walk, a RBI and 2 runs scored. DH Allen Cordoba (.225) was 1-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base. RHP Elliot Ashbeck (2.82 ERA) followed Boushley and allowed a run on a hit with a strikeout over 2 1/3 innings to earn the win. LHP Fred Schlichtholz (2.89) allowed a run on 2 hits with 2 strikeouts in an inning. RHP J.C. Cosme (1.65) allowed a hit in a scoreless inning.
