Jurcikson Profar smiles at Fernando Tatis Jr.

Entering the Padres six-game road trip, Jurickson Profar is riding an eight-game hitting streak to take the Padres’ lead in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and OPS.

The switch-hitting left fielder is 15-for-30 during the streak with two doubles, two home runs, eight RBIs, four walks and eight runs scored for a .500 batting average, a .559 on-base percentage and a .767 slugging percentage for a 1.326 OPS.

On the season, the 31-year-old Profar is hitting .342 (38-for-111) with eight doubles, four home runs, 21 RBIs, 17 walks and 17 runs scored in 34 games for a .431 on-base percentage and a .523 slugging percentage for a .953 OPS.

The next-highest marks among Padres regulars — Batting average: .269 (Jackson Merrill); On-base percentage: .343 (Jake Cronenworth); Slugging percentage: .470 (Cronenworth), and OPS: .813 (Cronenworth).

Profar also leads the Padres in hits, doubles and home runs; ranks second in RBIs (Cronenworth has 24) and walks (Ha-Seong Kim has 20), and is tied for fifth in runs scored.

Profar ranks eighth in the Major Leagues in batting average, is fourth in on-base percentage and is 11th in OPS.

NOTES:

— Prior to their most recent starts earlier this week against Cincinnati at Petco Park, Yu Darvish and Joe Musgrove had a combined 3–4 record with a 5.83 earned run average and a 1.500 WHIP. Then Darvish came off the injured list last Tuesday to shut out the Reds on three hits and no walks with three strikeouts over five innings. A day later, Musgrove held the Reds to two runs on four hits and no walks with nine strikeouts over six innings — a combined two runs on seven hits and no walks with 12 strikeouts over 11 innings.

— Jake Cronenworth’s grand slam home run against the Reds Wednesday was the third of his career. It was also his second at Petco Park, tying him for third with Chase Headley and Adrian Gonzalez. Hunter Renfroe is the all-time leader with four grand slams at Petco Park. Manny Machado is second with three. Cronenworth is 7-for-22 during a six-game hitting streak with three doubles, a home run and nine RBIs — giving him five homers and 24 RBIs on the season. After 34 games last year, Cronenworth had three homers and 14 RBIs.

— Because the Padres were holding a four-run lead, right-hander Robert Suarez didn’t add to his league-leading total of 10 saves Wednesday afternoon. But the reliever with the triple-digit fastball did extend his streak of scoreless appearances to 11 straight with a perfect inning. Suarez has a 0.66 ERA, a 0.805 WHIP and a .159 opponents’ batting average through his first 13 appearances.
