Double-A San Antonio right-hander Adrian Martinez has been named the Double-A Central Pitcher of the Month for July.
Martinez, a 24-year-old native of Mexicali, was 4–0 in July with a 0.32 earned run average in five starts. He allowed 16 hits across 28 1/3 innings pitched while allowing one earned run. Martinez struck out 25 batters and opponents batted .168 against him. On July 2, for Martinez pitched six no-hit innings against Corpus Christi while striking out nine batters and retiring 17 consecutive batters.

Tommy Pham found a great way to snap out of a 2-for-26 slump Tuesday night in Oakland.
The Padres’ lead-off hitter capped a nine-pitch battle with A’s starting pitcher Sean Manaea with a game-opening home run.
It was Pham’s fifth, game-opening home run of the season and the seventh of his career.
The five game-opening homers this season ties Pham with Will Venable (2011) for the second-most in Padres history. Fernando Tatis Jr. opened six games with home runs as a rookie in 2019.
Pham finished 2-for-5 Tuesday. His batting average had slipped from .266 to .251 during the slump.
